About School

A school is standing tall for 184 years with glory and achievements in the country, yes Jessore Zilla School it is. It is serving the nation through passing hundreds of students for higher studies every year.

It was established on February 3, 1838 by the locals with donations. The school was launched with 132 students in the Bungalow of Rani Kattayani of Naldi. In 1872 it was named Jessore Zilla School and started running under Government rules and regulation. The first headmaster of the school was Mr. J Smith, who worked from 1838 to 1848 in the first term and then from 1851 to 1865 in another term.

At present, the school runs in two shifts. About 2,000 students are guided and taught by 44 respectable teachers. The results of the students in public examinations are always being brilliant and remarkable.

The school through its students have a good record of performance in extracurricular activities including publication of School Magazine every year. The students take active participation in BNCC, Boys Scouts and Red-Crescent movement. They also participate in sports competitions and national debating events.

The school has a Common Room (for indoor games), Science Laboratories for Chemistry and Physics and a Library. The school library has a collection of about 5,000 books and many of these books are very rare.

This school has nine buildings including a two-storied student hostel, an administrative building, and residential quarters for the employees. It also has a mosque, a big auditorium, a health complex, 2 bicycle garage, a big playground and two ponds. We have enormous memories on these playground, ponds, in buildings, in and around verandas and, of course, in the classrooms. Doors and windows are the witnesses of our glorious childhood. We spent our most valuable time of our life in this sacred place. A nostalgic and blessed place for us.
